Dark Chocolate Bacon Bark is the most delicious blend of flavors. That’s right. Bacon and chocolate. The richness of the dark chocolate that’s just slightly sweet and the saltiness of the bacon. It’s amazingly decadent.
Chocolate Bacon Bark??
So you might be thinking, “what is this recipe doing on a health and wellness site?”
I’m sure you’ve heard that dark chocolate has health benefits. Plus, it’s good for the soul to have a tiny splurge every now and again. Everything in moderation, ya know?
This recipe has always been a hit when I’ve made it for gifts and parties. I’ve even had it requested a few times! It’s only 3 ingredients, takes minimal time to whip up and the most basic of kitchen equipment.
The form you have selected does not exist.
I like to keep a batch in my freezer and pull it out when I just want a quick little something sweet, but not too sweet. But it also makes the best DIY gift. Goes great as party favors, hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, neighbor christmas gifts. You name it!
If you wanted to healthy it up a bit more, or you have someone that doesn’t eat pork you could swap out regular bacon for turkey bacon (Just don’t tell me about it – I’m a bacon purist…there’s just nothing that beats the real thing, ya know?)
Dark Chocolate Bacon Bark Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb. (200g) Dark Chocolate (chips or a baking chocolate bar
- 1/3 lb bacon (about 6 -7 slices)
- Course Sea Salt (I like to use a grinder)
Directions:
Cook your bacon. Remove from pan and drain fat well. Set aside.
In a double boiler, or using a baking bowl over a sauce pan, melt your chocolate on low heat. Stir constantly. Don’t walk away from it! It can burn very quickly!
Once the chocolate is melted, turn off the heat. Chop the bacon into bite sized pieces or crumble it directly into the bowl of chocolate. Reserve a heaping spoonful of bacon to top the bar. Mix remaining bacon into the chocolate until every piece of bacon is covered
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pour the bacon chocolate mixture onto the baking sheet. Using a spatula spread it out into a thin even layer. If it’s too thick it will be hard to break up. Aim for about a 1/4 in thick
Let the pan sit to cool until the chocolate hardens. If you need it faster, you could put it in the fridge, but be forewarned, the chocolate sweats a little when you take it out. (That’s what happened here). The flavor is just as amazing even if this mishap should happen to you.
Make this sweet and salty treat for your next get together or when you need a gift for friends. They will be asking for this treat again and again!
